A river landscape makes up the background of this curious group of illustrations. As if emerging from the water, the "Primavera" figure appears in silhouette and plants a yellow daffodil by the old willow trunk.

As spring injects new life into everything, the old willow trunk begins to shoot forth - and even the stag in the lefthand illustration turns his head toward the tray of fragrant fruit.
