The Railway Bridge

Two illustrations are joined by a railway bridge. The bridge has only one track, which projects out from the first illustration and enters the second on the opposite side. Two steam locomotives race towards each other, but a catastrophe is averted since each locomotive will pass beneath the other - unless they crash to the ground below.
This illustration is an example of the use of double-perspective. Will the trains collide? The scene breaks out of its own frame - the trains will not crash, though: they are but a drawing.
