Symbolic of the four seasons, four carnivorous fishes are wrapped around a track for hurdlers. A giant time snail darts its tongue in and out, threatening the hounded hurdlers. However, the longer they run, the older they get; paradoxically their sense of time is getting more compressed. It looks as if these carnivorous fish eating each other up were shortened and accelerated. The only element at rest is a towel hanging in the picture, which establishes the connection between the virtual world in the picture and the real world in the frame.
