This variation on the ever ascending staircase is another favourite. This was, of course inspired by M.C. Escher's Ascending and Descending which was based on a construction by Professor Roger Penrose. The construction used here is entirely different and is, to the best of his knowledge, unique. This was a hugely difficult image to do and was done over the course of many months. The construction was developed as vector again in CorelDraw. The texturing required a huge amount of very carefully planned and calculated photography in an extraordinary Art Deco cathedral in Brussels. The figures were also photographed specifically for the image. The only non photographic element is the chain which was created and perspective matched using Strata 3D.
